Definition of Cloud Computing

With the brief explanation above, of course you already have a little idea about what cloud computing is.

What is meant by the cloud here is a virtual storage space stored on the internet.  This space is also known as cloud storage or cloud clusters.

With this cloud storage technology, all stored data and information can be accessed virtually from a remote server or remotely.

Now cloud computing is all the processes that are carried out through this cloud technology — be it storing, accessing, or processing data.

The process of data transfer and processing carried out through cloud computing also does not occur physically.  Users must be connected to the internet to be able to access and use the cloud.

 Cloud Computing Functions

Currently, many large companies have started to switch to cloud computing technology, Golden friends!

One reason is because cloud computing technology has many functions and benefits.  Here are some useful functions of cloud computing:

Improving performance between teams in a company — with cloud-based technology, all company data will be stored in virtual storage that can be easily accessed by all teams involved in a project.

Increasing data storage capacity — cloud storage used in cloud computing technology generally provides greater storage capacity compared to physical devices such as flash drives, hard drives, and so on.

 Benefits of Cloud Computing

Cloud computing also has many benefits, some of which are:

Cost efficiency because you don't have to buy a lot of hardware

 More secure and structured data

 Flexible

 Instant software updates

 Improve enterprise scalability

No need to do a lot of maintenance

 Backup and restore feature

 Types of Cloud Computing

Cloud computing has 3 delivery models: the first is Software as a Service or SaaS, Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).

The following is a brief description of the three delivery models:

 Software as a Service

This type of cloud computing software as a service requires users to purchase or have a license for the software application.

This license is usually granted through a pay-as-you-go, one-time payment, or on-demand subscription method.  The most common example of SaaS is Microsoft Office 365.

Until now SaaS is the most popular version of cloud computing used by many people in general.

The reason is because the user does not need to deal directly with backend problems on the cloud server.  Users can access this service through a web browser or application.

 Platform as a Service

This type of cloud computing platform as a service is generally referred to as the most complex cloud computing.  In fact, PaaS has a similar way of working with SaaS.

The difference is, PaaS is a platform used to create SaaS software that can be accessed via the internet.  Some examples of SaaS are Windows Azure and Heroku.

 Infrastructure as a Service

IaaS or infrastructure as a service is a method for sending a file from an operating system to a server and also storage.

This transfer process is carried out through IP-based connectivity with on-demand services.  So the user does not need to buy a software or server.

An example of a popular IaaS is Public Cloud from Indonesian Cloud.

 Types of Cloud Computing Deployment

Meanwhile, for the deployment or deployment, cloud computing has 4 models: public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud, and community cloud.

Public cloud has services that are almost the same as shared hosting, where several users share resources or resources from one server.

Private cloud provides cloud server services for a single user.  While the community cloud is used simultaneously by several users who have the same interests.

The last deployment model, Hybrid cloud, is a mix of public and private clouds.  So this model can be used publicly and privately.

 How Cloud Computing Works

How cloud computing technology works is actually quite simple.  Cloud computing makes the internet a center for data storage and management.

Furthermore, the device used to access cloud storage must have an internet connection and network.  Once connected, the user can already use this technology.

Whereas in the virtual cloud space, existing resources are collected and created to make it serve customer needs.

These resources are designed to be more flexible so that their users can access more storage space if necessary.

If there are resources that are not used when users use software and applications, then those resources will be released back to the cloud network.

 Closing

In short, cloud computing or cloud computing is the process of processing data through a virtual space called the cloud via the internet network.

Using cloud computing technology, users can easily store and access data on a cloud server available on the internet.

Resources that are stored and distributed through cloud computing can be servers, databases, networks, software, data storage, and much more.

Currently cloud computing is a technology that is quite popular.  One of the reasons many companies are using cloud computing is cost efficiency and stable performance
